Below are opinion pieces, essays on particular topics I feel strongly about.
It is now becoming more apparent, every day, that the next General Election will be, at least, a very close contest. The positioning of the party by Cameron et al is proving successful. I'm not entirely convinced that the floating voter sits in the 'centre-ground' (I think it is a mythical position, designed to make all of the right wing seem extreme) but am happy to acknowledge that the perception is still prevalent. The polls are getting better everyday but we all know that polls don't correlate directly to votes, which don't correlate directly to seats!
I am proud of being a libertarian Conservative. My beliefs were born and bred on these great isles, retaining the vision that Britain is still a beacon of liberty, freedom and justice. As subjects of Her Majesty we, the British people, have an almost unique relationship between the individual and the state: we are born truly free people.
The Labour Party, a collective of instinctive dictatorial micro-managers,has attempted to masquerade as the rightful inheritors of Thatcherism: a cause for the good of all, prudent guardians of the British economy and the protectorate of our people. This is utter nonsense.
After spending three years postulating and, to be honest, ranting over tea and crosswords in the Union, the brave souls over at 18 Doughty Street let me loose on Vox Politics last Friday night.
